Getting Married at St Mary's

Welcome to St. Mary’s Church of England.

We welcome all people to come and worship God in this church.

Marriage is a very happy time and a huge commitment which couples make to each other.

At St Mary’s we want to reflect the teaching of Jesus regarding marriage and encourage all those who are considering entering into it.

This commitment, however, should never be taken lightly and to that end St Mary’s works with couples to prepare for this important moment in their lives.

In order to do this would like to make you aware of the following:

  •  All couples need to either live in the parish or have a family link with the parish.
  • attend either a wedding preparation course or a discipleship course, such as Alpha
  • non British couples need to have all the relevant documentation. If the Vicar agrees to marry you, you will need to get a license from the local surrogate minister. The Vicar will give you the details of this.
  • attend St. Mary’s church for a period of time.

Please note we do not perform weddings at short notice.

You will need to come to Office Hour at St. Mary's Church on the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m.
